Thereās a quote Iāve always loved:
āLeave everything on the court.ā
For me, it started with basketball, where every possession counted, and every game had the potential to be a legacy moment. Iāve hit game winners in basketball, baseball, and even on the football field. The thrill of competition taught me how to show up, push through, and give it everything I had no matter who was watching.
But that mindset didnāt stop with sports.
I’ve competed at high levels in video games too. Whether it was on a controller or keyboard, I found that same drive, that focus, that hunger, to learn every mechanic, every strategy, and play to win.
Professionally, Iāve carried that competitive edge and resilience into supporting complex systems for multiple Fortune 500 companies like HP, Microsoft, Charles Schwab, and Builders FirstSource. Iāve been the person people called when things went wrong. High-stakes environments. Complex challenges. Long hours. And I never backed down. I didnāt always have the perfect answer, but I always gave a perfect effort.
And then life added its own version of challenge.
I married the woman of my dreams. We have two amazing kids. And like every family, weāve faced storms ā including one of the toughest years of my life. I ruptured my patellar tendon playing the game I love. In that moment, I was reminded just how fragile everything can be. But also, how powerful it is when you decide to fight through, to not retreat, but to adapt.
āLeave everything on the courtā doesnāt just apply to a gym or an office.
Itās about showing up for your family. For your faith. For yourself. It’s about not being afraid of giving your absolute best, even when it might not work out. Especially when it might not.
Because I donāt regret the work Iāve done, the failures Iāve learned from, or the risks Iāve taken. In fact, I look forward to trying harder than ever.
So whether youāre:
- Building a serverless app in AWS,
- Competing in your favorite game,
- Navigating a tough chapter in life,
- Or just trying to be a better version of yourself…
Donāt hold back.
Leave everything on the court.
